Political systems of selected West European countries and the USA: United Kingdom USA Germany France Belgium Netherlands Switzerland Austria Sweden

Learning outcomes
The course builds on the students´ knowledge gained in the course Theory and Analysis of Politics (TAP). Main aim is to give students a comprehensive introduction to the political systems of selected West European consolidated democracies and USA. Along with the course KPS2 they form an information complex which enables students to compare institutions and political phenomena across old and new democracies. Together they constitute one of the subjects tested in bachelor exams. Complex of three courses - TAP, KPS1 and KPS2 - creates deep and complex introduction to comparative politics which is one of main focuses of bachelor study of Political Science and European Studies at KPES FF UP.
The student acquires knowledge of political systems in selected West European countries and analytical skills for further study and research. Prerequisites
A prerequisite is completion of the course Introduction to Political Science (I and II) and course Theory and Analysis of Politics.
