Learning outcomes
|
The course aims to introduce students to basics of scientific or linguistic work. The theoretical introduction is dedicated to the issue of scientific investigation, the nature of science and scientific methods. The practical portion of the course presents the necessary elementary procedures of scientific work (searching for and sorting of information) and necessary properties of scientific output (characteristics of scientific texts, basic rules of writing scientific texts, formal requirements). The course also introduces students to various types of software tools suitable for various phases and types of scientific work.
Basic orientation in information sources and work with them, knowledge of requirements on scholarly texts, ability to produce scholarly texts (formulation of research questions, searching from relevant sources, organization of scholarly text, basics of proper argumentation, etc.), overview of tools (software, online services) for academic work
