The original philosophical project of M. Foucault will, in modified form, be used for analysis and description of selected discussions and debates between Czech structuralists and proponents of various competing or even contradictory theoretical concepts. Individual debates and clashes of ideas that went on throughout the whole duration of Czech structuralist thought (form the 1930s to 1960s) will be seen as often inspirational impulses for further development of structural thought in our country. Individual topics of the course will venture into context of Czech thought on language, arts (literature) and more general issues of sign, representation and history of human thought.
