Learning outcomes |
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basics of semiotic theory, its terminology, the notion of modeling, its limits and place within contemporary science (at the interface of linguistics, philosophy and the natural sciences, especially biology). Students will be expected to learn the core concepts of semiotics and apply them to various textual and media artifacts, and to engage with the semiotics network, which is the social fabric of the semiotics community comprised of the numerous conference series, the various institutions, and the communication of the many online semiotics groups.
