Course content
(1) Quantitative linguistics and experimntal usage, coding Reasons for usage quantitative linguistics, usage in experiments, its possible usage on language and non-language phenomens (2) Results analysis, charts, graphs, regressions Basic view on data, its representation in 2D and 3D, basic methods of modelling (3) Multivariate analysis Usage, purposes and principles of multivariate methods and their interpretation (4) Vizualizace vzdálenostních a podobnostních dat, clustering Principal component analysis, Multidimensional scaling, k-Means, Hierarch clustering, heatmaps a more (5) Results interpretation and human factor General problematics of results interpretation, correlations, causality, induction, deduction, cognitive bias, alternative hypothesis, ad-hoc and post-hoc hypothesis fails (8) Graph theory and application Application of graph theory to language and non-language data (9) Experimental grammar Making of experimental grammar in sense of Chomsky and Hjelmslev

Learning outcomes
The main aim of this course is to introduce problematics of creating experiment from its beggining to final work with results data and interpretation, based on tasks and exercises. Emphasis will be placed on general problematics of creating experiment, meaningful visualisation of obtained data, their further usage, interpretation and common mistakes.
