The aim of the course is make the students familiar with the basics of mathematics and its instruments which are necessary for exact text processing. The course is prepared for students of linguistics who feel not safe when handling with mathematical instruments and serves as preparation to pass other courses (Matematické modelování textu, Kvantitativní lingvistika apod.) which apply the acquired knowledge. The presentation of theoretical knowledge is supported with practicle case studies applying it.
