The course aims to convey to students basic orientation in theoretical concepts which linguistic has at its disposal for exploration of language as a state og human mind (cognitive linguistics, generative linguistics, semantics) and as a form of engagement of individuals in social interaction (pragmatics). Students should comprehend these theories to such extent as to be able to tell which theory needs to be chosen for reflection of which language phenomenon, and should be able to study the theory in question on their own.
