Course content
Literary texts covering the German literature of today: German writing authors, whose lifes were influenced by the WW2 /G. Grass/ or reflecting the family stories of this war period from the point of the view of the young generation /T. Dueckers/. They are also presented the literary autobiografies by O. Filip, H. Bienek, G. Tietz and F. Sikora, the authors who personally experienced the thirties und fourties of the twentieth century.

Learning outcomes
After completing this seminar students should be able to present their knowledge of the discussed authors of the German written literature and of their work reflecting the time before, during and after the World War II, to lead the debate on their texts, who came from Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia/Upper Silesia (today a part of Poland), to interpret the texts in context of the problematics of development the Czech, Polish and German society in the thirties, fourties and in the beginning the fifties of the twentieth century and apply all this in teaching lessons.
Interpretation of primary texts, clarification of authors' motivation for creation, contemporary context of creation of individual works. Assessment of the possible political orientation of the authors and their personal involvement.
Prerequisites
Active participation in the seminar, mastery of reading all primary texts, basic orientation in secondary literature.

Student performance

Active participation in the seminar, reading of all primary texts, report or presentation with an emphasis on the author's motivation for writing the given text.
