Course content
Unification of Germany in the 19th century Development of Germany 1871-1918 Weimar Republic 1918-1933 Third empire 1933-1945 Germany after the Second World War (FRG, GDR) 1945-1949 Germany (FRG, GDR) 1949-1989 Reunification of Germany and its development after 1990

Learning outcomes
Students should be able be to explain all of the topics in the context of history of the Middle-europian region, which was under the influence of the superpowers (Austria-Hungary, Prussia, Russia). Students should be also able to contain causes and consequences of the two largest world war conflicts od the 20th century, followed by the stabilization after 1945 in the atmosphere of emerging Cold War (formation of the two German states) until the next groundbreaking historical event in Europe in 1989 and the collapse of the Eastern Bloc. Each topic will be processed in the form of a papers and presentations by students, which will be subject of discussion within the teaching.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

80% participation in lessons, active participation in the seminar elaboration of a paper or presentation requirements for ISP: 20% participation, continuous completion of tasks according to the teacher's requirements
