Course content
Historical roots of coexistence of Czechs and Germans from the 13th century. Development of Czech-German relations from the end of the Austrian era (between 1900-1918) to the present. Coexistence of Czechs with Germans in the period of the 1st Czechoslovakia. Protectorate. The issue of the expulsion of Sudeten Germans. Regional history: Czech-German relations in the 20th century in Olomouc. Current problems and activities of the German minority at present.

At the end of the course students should be able to: - understand the complexity of coexistence between Czechs and Germans in history; - to critically evaluate historical facts from contemporary perspectives; - to clarify the issue of the German minority in the Czech lands after 1918 to the present; - understand the complexity of Czech-German relations in regional history.
