The contain of these lectures is structured by these points: 1/ doubts on possibilities of historiographical resear (H. H. Eggebrecht, J. Černý), 2/ method and historiographical research (R. Descartes), 3/ method and historiographical research (P. K. Feyerabend), 4/ method and historiographical research (C. Dahlhaus), 5/ research of music reception, 6/ the importance of historiographical research (F. Nietzsche, J. Patočka), 7/ the induction (K. R. Popper), 8/ philosophy and phenomenology ((H. Arendtová, I. Blecha), 9/ synthetic works and specializes papers (J. Fukač, M. Ottlová), 10/ selected publications, its analysys and evaluation (J. Křesťan a Z. Nejedlý), 11/ selected publications, its analysys and evaluation (periodical and production of Prague Theatre institute), 12/ selected publications, its analysys and evaluation (H. Spurná and musical theatre).

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of these lectures is to clear different methodological attitudes in the historic branch of musicology. Thanks to the terminological discursions (music - musical process - musical piece of art - sources of inspiration etc.) will be reached definition of the main subject of music historiography.
The handling of actual knowledge and methods in the specialised area of music history. Student will be aware of possibilities and limitations in musical historical research, of extraordinary as well as of problematic methodological conceptions in historical musicology.

Prerequisites
|
This subject assumes basic orientation in musicological liteerature (e. g. dictionaries MGG and Grove, monographs to the main persons of music history, periodicals) and experience on elaboration cinsiderable specialised paper comparable to bacchelor thesis.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Seminar Work
Working out and presentation one paper during the semester on sources and literature and musical historical circumstances to the selected theme. Student should show knowledge of recommended literature both in Czech and writen in foreign language.
