Course content
1) aesthetic thninking on music in the ancient world 2) aesthetic thninking on music in the Middle Ages 3) aesthetic thninking on music in the 17th and 18th centuries 4) aesthetic thninking on music in the 19th century 5) aesthetic thninking on music in the 20th century 6) music, musical beauty, art 7) ontology of a musical work of art, musical meaning 8) delimitation of musical aesthetics (its relations to philosophy, semiotics, musical criticism, its place in the system of musicology)

Learning outcomes
The course introduces into the history of aesthetic thinking about music and into basic terminology as well as problems of aesthetic thinking about music.
Students gain in-depth orientation in the problems of aesthetic thinking about music and in the history of aesthetic thinking about music.
Prerequisites
Students should be well acquainted with basic theoretical terminology on music, with music history and musicology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

Students should approve basic orientation in problems and history of asthetic thinking about music from antiquity to the 20th century in the amount of lectured subject matters and obligatory literature. He should also be able to debate over the items of literature he chose from the list of obligatory but optional literature.
