1. Introduction to the Study of Musical Analysis 22 recommendations for an analysis of a musical work by Diether de la Motte. 12 conditions of musical analysis by Clemens Kühn. 2. Methods of Analysis An overview of analytical methods used in an analysis of works of the chamber type of music. 3. Analysis of a Work: J. Haydn, Piano Trio in C Major, Hob. XV:27. An illustration of an analysis of a classical piano trio. A special attention will be paid to an accentuation of the role of piano part and to the specific role of other instruments. 4. Analysis of a Work: J. Haydn, String Quartet in B Minor, Op. 33 No. 1, Hob. III:37 (First Movement). An illustration of Haydn's monothematic sonata form. 5. Analysis of a Work: L. van Beethoven, Piano Sonata in D Minor, Op. 10, No. 3, Second Movement: Largo e mesto. 'Measure after measure' analysis. 6. Learning outcomes

This class presents analytical methods, which can be used in connection with the chamber music especially of the 18th and 19th century.
The student knows basic approaches of the analysis of chamber tonal music. The student: - is able to read a chamber, three or four voice composition of chamber works without problem, - can define motivic ties in works of a sonata character and can define their tectonic logic. Acquired qualifications: The student is able to approach to an analysis of bigger orchestral compositions and to the music of the 20th century in the following course Analysis of Musical Compositions 3.
