Course content
The aim of the course is the adoption of the concept of natural numbers and of the operations on natural numbers and their properties. The educational themes are as follows: - Binary operation on a set. Properties of binary operations. - Algebraic structures with one binary operation. Algebraic structures with two binary operations. - Natural numbers from three perspectives: o Natural numbers as cardinal numbers. o Natural numbers as ordinal numbers. o Natural numbers as Peano`s axioms.

Learning outcomes
To provide the students with a professional view of primary school mathematics curriculum.
The knowledge gained in the TMA2 course of study is a prerequisite to successful studies in other subjects and shall be applied in the students´ teaching practice.
Prerequisites
The successful completion of the course is conditioned by the mastery of basic mathematical skills acquired in the TMA1 course of study and by the ability of the student to apply the aforementioned skills within the context of didactics.
Assessment methods and criteria
Didactic Test, Seminar Work
Active participation in seminars,60% success rate in mid-term tests, preparation and submission of a seminar paper.
