Course content
The course is divided into lessons with both theoretical and practical components. Each lesson focuses on a single radio genre or a related phenomenon, ranging from the definition of a news report, its essence, and structure, through the characteristics of live reporting, to a moderated current affairs segment. Each lesson includes a section on general journalistic principles, why they exist, and what their pitfalls are. This helps students better understand the importance of these principles. The lesson concludes with a discussion with students on the topic covered.

Learning outcomes
The aim is for the students to be able to make audios of different genres and footage in technically and mainly content mastered quality. In addition, students will get an overview of the Czech media environment, what has shaped it in the historical context, what is currently affecting it and what its future direction will be. They will understand how and why the media are divided and the means they work with and their main focus. They will practically test the difference between written texts, audio and audio-visual media, and learn to work with their voice in front of a microphone, conduct a radio interview, and record their own podcasts. They will learn to work with a basic editing audio program. They will develop basic rules of radio news, which students can use in other non-journalistic professions in which they need to interact with people.

Prerequisites
Students must have an excellent command of the Czech language and be clear about the difference between standard and colloquial Czech. The obvious is flawless voice speech without serious speech flaws. Students are well aware of the current cultural-political situation not only in the Czech Republic but also in the world. We expect more than the basic knowledge of history from students, with an emphasis on the important milestones of the 20th century, especially its second half. Computer literacy and a positive relationship to audio technology are also required.

Assessment methods and criteria
unspecified
Student assessment will consist of two parts: a practical component and a theoretical component. The practical component culminates in the creation of a podcast. The instructor will assess students' theoretical knowledge of the media landscape and the principles of news reporting and journalism on an ongoing basis during each class. The best podcasts are posted on the university's podcast platform, Univerzitní 22.
