Course content
Content: Selected chapters from the history of crisis management allow students to understand, through examples of crisis strategies used throughout history, how crisis information strategies have emerged and evolved. The course introduces a selection of examples from relatively recent history. It introduces the means and possibilities of information sharing in crisis situations and outlines how the major crises of the 20th and 21st centuries have been publicized and argued, and how world leaders have used the knowledge and possibilities of crisis information strategy. In several case studies, the student will learn about examples of good and bad practice. He will then try to find examples of crisis situations on his own in archival materials and in the seminars we will look together at how they were coordinated. Course structure: 1. Introduction - How crisis information strategy was conducted in different periods of history - from ancient times to the present - common features, formal means, procedures 2. 1938 - Munich Agreement 3. 1948 - the rise of the Communist government 4. 1968 - occupation of the Czechoslovakia 5. 1997 - Moravia under water 6.
