Introduction in the most important historical and present theories of education (Comenius, Herbart, Dewey etc.) . Main topics Theory of education from antics till renaissance Theory and philosophy of education of J. A. Comenius J. J. Rousseau and the beginning of educational pessimism Educational theories of early modern philosophers (J. Locke, C. A. Helvétius) J. H. Pestalozzi, J. B. Basedow: philanthropism and social dimension of education J. F. Herbart and the beginning of systematic pedagogy E. Fink and antinomies of education J. Dewea and educational pragmatism Theories of education in the context of philosophy of 1st half of 20th century J. Piaget and the developmental psychology and genetics epistemology Constructivism Postmodernism and changes of understanding of education in the 2nd half of 20th century Theoretical questions of education in 21st century

Introduction into the most important historical and present theories of education. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Explore individual aspects of historical and contemporary educational theories including the realitionship to the educational practice.

Key informations concerning the educational theories and it's consequences for the educational practice, formulation and defense of own opinion on the educational theory and practice. Reading of primary literature. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS (edis.upol.cz/cmtf).
