Course content
Basic characteristics of science and scientific research, basic concepts and definitions. Characteristics of qualitative, quantitative and mixed research. Research planning process. Phases and functions of research. The specifics of the formulation of the research problem, aims and research questions in qualitative research in social work. Characteristics of basic research designs in qualitative research. Specifics of the selection of the research set. Methods of data collection and methods of their processing in qualitative research. Forming a conclusion and discussion in qualitative research. Validity and reliability in qualitative research. Software for data processing in qualitative research.

Learning outcomes
Students will acquire and demonstrate skills in qualitative research. They can discuss the possibilities of scientific research using qualitative research, primarily in the field of social work. Students will understand the theoretical foundations and acquire basic skills related to the formulation of aims and research questions and the choosing appropriate methods of data collection and methods of processing of data in the field of qualitative research.
Students will have basic theoretical knowledge in the field of qualitative research. Students will be able to formulate a research problem, research goals and questions from the point of view of qualitative research in the field of social work. Students will acquire and demonstrate knowledge of how to work with data in qualitative research. Students will be able to choose the right design for their research paper. Students can characterize the basic methods of obtaining and processing qualitative research data.

Basics of quantitative and qualitative research.
