Course content
The course focuses on health from the perspective of the biopsychosocial-spiritual model of the person. Biological, psychological, social, and spiritual determinants of health and their interrelationships will be introduced. Attention will also be given to selected current topics in health psychology, as well as to health promotion and prevention. Topics covered: - Health psychology - basic concepts and models. - Health in the context of the WHO and determinants of health. - Psychological determinants of health - well-being, emotions, resilience, hardiness, and vulnerability. - Biological determinants of health, the mind-body relationship, stress and its impact on health. - Lifestyle and health - sleep, physical activity, and nutrition. - Social determinants of health and social support. - The patient and client in the healthcare system; communication about illness. - Spiritual determinants of health. - Digital aspects of health psychology. - Alternative medicine in the context of health psychology. - Health promotion and prevention; risk and protective factors related to health. - Contemporary perspectives in health psychology.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce the basic concepts of health psychology and familiarize students with the factors influencing human health from a biopsychosocial-spiritual perspective. Attention will also be given to health promotion and disease prevention.
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - explain the basic concepts of health psychology and selected contemporary concepts related to health and illness, - characterize the biological, psychological, social, and spiritual determinants of health and explain their interrelationships, - identify key risk and protective factors affecting human health, - demonstrate a basic understanding of health promotion and prevention approaches based on current scientific evidence, - critically reflect on the potential benefits and risks of digital technologies for human health in light of current scientific evidence.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

Requirements for completing the course: - attendance at seminars is compulsory; a maximum of 2 absences is permitted, - completion of the assigned tasks by the specified deadline according to the instructions provided in the study materials in Moodle. Students with an Individual Study Plan (ISP): Students are required to complete the assigned tasks by the specified deadline according to the instructions provided in the study materials in Moodle and to complete an alternative assignment focused on a selected topic in health psychology according to the instructions.
