Course content
1. Definition of social pedagogy as a discipline and its content, functions of social pedagogy. The relationship of social pedagogy to other scientific disciplines, dimensions of social pedagogy. 2. Historical development of social pedagogy to the present. 3. Social pedagogy in the 21st century - its status, research areas, challenges, tasks. 4. Social pedagogy abroad. 5. Environment and education - the role of the environment in education, typology of environments. Specifics of local and regional environments. Environment and upbringing - characteristics of the natural environment for human upbringing, challenges of the current global environment; characterization of two aspects of the environment: material-spatial and socio-psychological. Environment of educational institutions. 6. Social pedagogy and the media environment. Media education.

Learning outcomes
The basics of social pedagogy aim to familiarize students with the essence of social pedagogy as a science and its application, enabling them to acquire knowledge about social pedagogy as a field of study and the relationship between education and the environment based on professional literature. This course introduces students to the grounding and contemporary concepts of both Czech and foreign social pedagogy. It outlines the development of social pedagogy from its roots to the present, including the legislative framework for the position of graduates in the field of social pedagogy. The focus is on the typology of environments and their relationship to education.
Students will gain knowledge of social pedagogy as a science necessary for their further practice.

Successful completion of the exam and active participation in lectures (the exam will be a written test, with a minimum requirement of 70% for passing).
