Course content
Introduction to the Course. Introduction to working with families, family functions and typology, family functioning. Current trends concerning the family. The family as a subject of scientific interest, basic concepts from family psychology. Basic approaches in family therapy. Possibilities and limits of working with families from the perspective of a social pedagogue. Virginia Satir's approach - theory and practice. Family crises and intervention. Trauma and the family system (CAN syndrome, domestic violence). Addiction in the family. Selected approaches to family work developed in the Czech Republic: Social uterus as a metaphor for the family, the metaphor of the "Family Island"; Family drawing and its applications. Conclusion of the topic (practical activities).

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the theory and practice of working with families.
Students will gain a basic overview of the theoretical field of working with family. Students will acquire practical tips for working with families in the context of social pedagogy. Students will improve their communication skills through practical training.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

Conditions for Course Credit: Active participation in seminars is required with a maximum of 2 absences allowed. Condition for Passing the Colloquium: Oral examination: The student will demonstrate a general overview of the topic based on a randomly selected question. In the second part, he will describe an example of using some knowledge or skill he acquired in the subject from the position of a social pedagogue. Students with an Individual Study Plan: The student will study one case study of therapeutic work with a family and prepare its analysis based on the given questions. The student will pass an oral examination (online examination is possible).
