Course content |
Educational anthropology is focused on explaining the application of anthropology to education. The course deals with the study of anthropology and human variability through all subfields of anthropology. It also deals with anthropometry, growth and child development, ontogeny, hygiene and health education. It also outlines the tradition of health education in the Czech countries.

The course will introduce the students to anthropological concepts, theories, its relationship to philosophical anthropology and the contemporary view of the problem of education. In particular, its content will be an overview of anthropological knowledge with a focus on the educational orientation of the graduate student. Students will be introduced to knowledge of hygiene, health education, human variability in time and space, developmental anthropology with emphasis on child and youth development, disorders and diseases. Basic terms and content from cultural and ethnic anthropology will also be covered.

Assessment methods and criteria |
Oral exam
Active participation in class (any absence for serious reasons will be duly excused) and self-study of literature and materials in Moodle. Completion of the colloquium - for the colloquium students will prepare two infographics: 1. infographic on the selected developmental period in terms of physiology; 2. infographic with information about the selected nation, ethnic group in relation to the pedagogical approach (The content and processing of the infographic will be specified during the lecture). During the colloquium learners will present their findings to others and answer additional questions related to the topics discussed during the lectures. Students with an individual plan: - apply the above + written completion of the tasks listed in the learning support. |
