Course content
It will deal with the following topics: 1. Education in a multicultural society as a current issue. 2. Situation of ethnic groups in the Czech Republic and their social exclusion. 3. Migration and (i)migrants and their situation in the Czech Republic + EU. 4. The situation of refugees in the CR + EU. 5. Multicultural education in schools and in various facilities.

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)
Learning outcomes
On the basis of this subject, students will be able to define and understand the basic concepts of multicultural education. The aim is to teach them to understand the situation of migrants and minorities in the Czech Republic as well as in the world and creatively work with different groups to support intercultural education of children and the youth in different variety of facilities. Based on the study material and articles they will be able to assess the environmental situation of another ethnicity, religion, etc., to understand their own feelings and work creatively with them in the field of multictultural education. Lessons are in English.
The students will be able to define the basic concepts of multicultural education and understand it.They will be able to understand the situation of migrants and minorities in the Czech Republic and in the world and creatively work with the following information to support intercultural education of children and the youth in different variety of facilities. Based on the movie and authentic articles they will be able to assess the environmental situation of another ethnicity, religion, etc., to understand their own feelings related to this issue and to work creatively with this understanding and information in their social and educational work.

Assessment methods and criteria

An essay on a chosen topic and active participation in seminars on the following topic. Your task is to find activities such as a film or a resource book that can be used in multicultural education. You should: 1. Explain the suitability of the chosen source for multicultural education: o Discuss how the selected film or resource book incorporates diverse perspectives, cultural themes, or relevant content that aligns with the goals of multicultural education. 2. Define a group of pupils/students who can work with it: o Identify the target audience or group of students for whom the chosen activity is most appropriate. Consider factors such as age, cultural background, or educational level. 3. Reflect on the goals of such activities: o Articulate the educational goals and outcomes expected from implementing the chosen activity. Discuss how it contributes to fostering cultural awareness, understanding, and appreciation among students. 4. Describe/present potential risks and how to address them: o Acknowledge potential challenges or risks associated with the chosen activity, such as cultural sensitivity issues or misinterpretations. Propose strategies to mitigate these risks, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning experience. Remember to tailor each response to the specific film or resource book you choose, providing concrete examples and details to support your analysis.
