Course content
|
Topics - crisis intervention Basic definition of the term crisis. Basic definition of crisis intervention. Social worker as a crisis intervention. Legal framework for providing crisis intervention. Working with emotions in crisis intervention. Forms of crisis intervention (face-to-face help, remote form of help, face-to-face crisis intervention, telephone crisis intervention, use of the Internet, field crisis intervention). Loss as crisis and crisis as loss (material loss, functional loss, relational loss, intrapsychic loss, role loss, systemic loss). Specifics of crisis intervention (domestic violence, suicides, CAN syndrome, for people with addiction, for people with disabilities). Practical training in the use of crisis intervention. Topics - consulting Basic definition of the term consultancy. Basic definition of counseling in the system of social services. Counseling dialogue. Working with emotions in counseling. Social counseling process. At-risk clients - involuntary, resistant, silent, depressed, suicidal, manipulative and aggressive client. Practical training in the use of social counseling.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to learn the basic principles and methods for counseling activities in social work and the application of counseling in counseling work with individual target groups. Another goal of the course is to create sufficient readiness on the part of the student to implement an appropriate response when encountering a crisis situation with the target person, both at the level of theoretical knowledge and practicality.
Student: - can describe the counseling process and crisis intervention in the context of social work; - knows the basic course of the counseling process and crisis intervention; - able to conduct a counseling interview and crisis intervention; - able to assess the specifics of conducting a counseling interview and crisis intervention for different target groups.

Written exam
Classification requirements: 1. Recommended participation in consultations. 2. Completion of the assigned task. 2. Written exam - mastering model situations and topics according to the syllabus.
