Course content
1. History of Czech translations of Greek and Roman authors 2. Theoretical problems of translation of poetry 3. Translation of drama and its specifics 4. Practical translation exercises

Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the practical skills necessary for translating of Latin texts into mother language. Students will learn how to translate various types of latin texts both, in prose and in verse, and will be introduced to the main problems of the translation studies. They will also acquire a general overview of the history of Czech translation of the classical Latin works.

Prerequisites
Good knowledge of Latin language and completion of the courses in Latin morphology, syntax and stylistics.

Student performance, Seminar Work

Active participation in class and translation of chosen passages from Latin texts in verses. Completion of final exam.
