Learning outcomes
|
This elective course builds upon the MOPN1 course. The topics and legal concepts are based on the German Civil Code (BGB) and include a partial comparison with Austrian civil law (ABGB); authentic texts of statutes and court rulings are incorporated into the instruction to enable students to expand their professional vocabulary to cover additional areas of civil law and civil procedure. Depending on feasibility and language proficiency, students will attempt to draw comparisons with Czech law regarding specific legal issues. Instruction is supplemented by authentic spoken-language materials (videos) designed to improve comprehension skills and facilitate basic discussion of legal topics.

Prerequisites
|
For successful completion of this course it is necessary to have at least basic knowledge of civil law (at least 2 semesters) and good level of knowledges of general German.

The condition for successful completion of the course is participation in seminars to the extent specified by the teacher and fulfillment of obligations set by the teacher for the seminar.
