While studying at the Law Faculty of Palacký University, the students must choose one language (out of three languages - English, French and German) as a compulsory subject. As the students come from the secondary schools their knowledge of the language is supposed to be on the upper-intermediate level. Therefore the subject called 1. foreign language is focused on technical legal terminology. Grammar and sentence structure, which characterize the legal text, are also repeated and supplemented in the first semester. The students work also with technical texts a learn to compare the German and Czech law.
After completing the course, students will know the legal concepts in the context of content, will be able to understand moderately demanding authentic texts and express themselves on basic issues within the topics discussed in comparison with the Czech legislation.
