Course content
Vaccines are the most effective and secure prophylactic approaches in the area of infectious diseases and during last decade also in some areas of oncology. The easiest way to demonstrate their efficacy are the changes in incidence of infectious diseases preventable by current obligatory vaccines. The lectures will cover in detail the theory of specific immune response development, the vaccination calendar in the Czech Republic, vaccination schedules for all vaccines which are obligatory and/or recomendend in the Czech Republic, or recommended for travelers in selected countries, contraindications for various types of vaccines (both absolute and relative), side effects. The last part will cover modern trends in vaccine development including DNA vaccines and mucosal vaccines.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
During the course, they will be discussed immunological and epidemiological principles of vaccination, basic vaccination schemes and vaccination calendar for the Czech Republic, vaccination recommended for travelers in selected countries, the most obvious complications and general contraindications like immune deficiencies, autoimmune processes. As the part of the course the new vaccination approaches lik DNA vaccine or mucosal vaccination will be introduced.
The absolvents should be oriented in the area of clinically approved vaccines as well as in current trends in the vaccine development.
