Course content |
Seminar topics: 1. Music in liturgy, mass and singing parts of mass, mass oficium and proprium, mass for the deceased, rorate caeli, passion music, prayer of the Canonical hours and its forms, hymns and sequences, religious services and processions, songs. 2. History of church music in Bohemia and Moravia - medieval origins, music of 17th and 18th century. 3. History of church music in Bohemia and Moravia - music of 19th and 20th century. 4. Introduction to terminology for a description of music pieces - composer, author of the editing, author of the text, printer, publisher. Musical notation - neum, choral and mensural. Way of making - autograph, copy, typography notation print, engraving, lithography, new ways of notation printing. 5. Ways of composition record - partiture, particle, voices. Voices arrangement, abbreviations, different forms of composition record. Voices arrangement within one catalogue number. Scheme of catalogue sheet. 6. Organizing of a collection of music notation material - reconstruction of an original system and its completion, creation of new collections, protection of the documents. 7.-12. Cataloguing of particular music notation collection. 13. Credit work on cataloguing of music notation material.

Learning outcomes |
Aim of the course is to teach students how to organize all parts of contemporary music pieces, that is to find and recognize score, particle, singing and instrumental voices. It is important that students solve form of preserved music notes and to find different forms of author responsibilities in them and to create catalogue entry based on all the information (without music incipit).
Student knows terminology, is able to identify form of preservation of music piece and different types of author responsibility. Student is also able to recognize and as a part of one catalogue number arrange different kinds of notation record and based on this information is able to create catalogue record of particular music piece. |
