Course content
Lecture topics: 1. Diplomatis as one of the Auxiliary Historical Disciplines and its history in world context, general editions of diplomatic material, difference between diplomatar and regests. 2. Papal and imperial diplomatics. Editions of Bohemical diplomatic material originally from Vatican archives (Monumenta Vaticana, Nunciatures, Acts of the Congregation of Propaganda Fide). 3. History of Czech diplomatics and the most important editions of Bohemical diplomatic material (CDM, Czech-moravian regestas, CDB, Wenceslau´s regestas). 4. Division of diplomatic material based on the content of legal character I. - deeds, mandates, lists, act material. Other specialized editions deeds and lists connected to the Czech area. 5. Division of diplomatic material based on the content of legal character II. - official books. Editions of official books connected to the Czech area (especially editions of zemské and dvorské desky, urbarium and land registers). 6. Division of diplomatic material based on the way of drawing up - original, concept, copy. Editions connected to documents of municipal administration in Bohemia and Moravia (diplomatars and regestars connected to the cities in our country, registers and editions of municipal/city books). 7. Falzums - old, new, office. Forged deed. Editions connected to documents of patrimonial administration in Bohemia and Moravia (registers of land books, editions of book records). 8. People connected to the publishing of deeds. Office and its activities. Relation between legal obtaining and is written fixation. Editions connected to documents of church administration in Bohemia and Moravia (libri erectionum, libri confirmationum, diplomatars of monasteries, inquisition documents, registers of people according to religion). 9. External characteristics of deeds, mandates and lists. Editions of Bohemical documents of Early Moder Period. 10. Internal characteristics of documents including parts of the deed. Preparation of edition, its parts. Creating of the regest. 11. Czech diplomatics before 1198 - general characteristics of development. 12. Czech diplomatics between 1198 and 1419 - general characteristics of development. 13. Czech diplomatics between 1419 and 1546 - general characteristics of development.

Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is to give students an overview about Diplomatics as Auxiliary Historical Discipline and to introduce them to terminology, method and findings of the field. More focuse will be on division of diplomatic material, its internal and external characteristics, only general attention and basic information will be provided about papal and imperial diplomatics. Part of the course will be introduction to the editions of ddifferent types of diplomatic material and used editorial principles.
Knowledge of terminology and general problems of diplomatics, types of diplomatic material, internal and external characteristics of deeds, mandates and lists. Students as an idea about the most important forms of documents originated from papal and imperial offices and knows their general development. Student alo knows main milestones in the history of Czech diplomatics, and also in more detail about different forms of editions of diplomatic material.
