Course content |
Seminar topics: 1. Visual techniques connected to paper. Painting and drawing. Graphics - original art graphic, reproduction graphic, applied graphic, decorative graphic. 2. Paper - damage, philigran, edge of the paper. Quality of the print - press, trial prints, remarks, secondary prints. People around printing press - author of the pattern, graver, printer, publisher. Signatures, monograms, printing symbols, address of the publisher, signatures and editions. 3. Height print - woodcut, wood engraving, engraving on chalk desk, linocut, lino engraving, metalcut. 4. Depth print (Intaglio) - chalcography, steelgraphy, dot and hallmark engraving, dry needle, mezzotinta, etching, vernis mou, aquatinta. 5. Surface print - lithography. Combination of graphic techniques. 6. Collecting and collecting symbols, institutions with graphic collections. 7. Cataloging of graphics - examination of paper, comparison to other prints in collections and lists, classification within art history context. 8.-12. Cataloging of particular collection. 13. Final work on cataloguing of particular graphic of graphic collection.

Learning outcomes |
Aim of the course is to teach student who to catalogue visual arts on paper, especially graphics. After the course students should be able to identify used graphic technique, theme and name of the author of particular work when using literature and internet sources.
Orientation in terminology, student is able identify different techniques of visual works on paper based on its characteristics. Students knows sources for identification of author, can work with relevant literature and internet sources, knows basic iconographic compendies. Student knows about existence and importance of various states of graphics, understands different forms of responsibility of the author, which was involved in the origin of the graphic list. Student can fill in cataloguing list of graphic paper. |
