| Course content |
|
The seminar will offer a joint exploration of selected phenomena of medieval society based on a diverse range of written, visual, and material sources. Attention will be devoted both to the milieu of Latin Europe and to the culturally and religiously diverse space of the Middle East, with an emphasis on mutual contacts, conflicts, and shared experiences. The aim is to deepen the ability to work critically with sources and to understand the plurality of forms of the medieval world. Topics may always be supplemented according to students' interests, and the seminar will primarily consist of discussions of sources and previously studied materials.
