Course content |
The subject aims to describe the progress of the social position of Czech women from the end of 19th century to the beginning of the Second World War. The main focus of the topic is situated into the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938), onto which there was aimed the research. There was so far only minimal consideration by historians in Czech Republic to issues of the social position of women, whether in the whole complex of the existing problem or from assorted partial sights, for the period of years 1918-1938. This expressive social problem was not publicaly seen as a problem at all by overbearing part of society in the human history, that is for several reasons which existed in the past. In the seminary there will be solved the problem of social-political and publical activity of women by the method of mental probe into the activity and position of 1) liberally oriented groups, 2) catholic groups, 3) women associations from working-class ( social-democratic and communist). The attention will be paid to the engagement of Czech women into international women organization and to the position of women and women movement in the world. Lectures also focus on the perception of the social position of women by some representatives of men educated and political world, e. g. T. G. Masaryk and Jan Šrámek. Surveyed historical theme is a part of the whole complex of issues connected with the social position of women and with the effort to its change. PZ
