The seminar will focus on a treatment of a particular collection of musical material. Students will do "everything" related to this part of archive sciences: from documentation of finding conditions, through cleaning and ordering of material to its cataloguing. The cataloguing will consist of identification of a composition, its author (or its editor or creator of text or libretto), copyist (or publisher and printer in case of printed composition), another part of the practice will be correct arrangement of pages of a particular sheet of music. Further attention will be paid to musical character (score, particelli, short score, voices) and to the method of preservation of a cataloged song. Whole process of cataloguing will be explained gradually and every student will have to create, until the end of a semester, catalogue records of circa 50 compositions.
