Course content
The main topic of the course is the Roman expansion into Pannonia, which was connected with the creation of Limes Romanus in the area. Another point of interest in the course is the typology of Roman military objects on the border. Lectures will also focuse on the basic organization of the Roman army, its equipment and weapons. The course offers a detailed description of topography of important military camps (castra) and outposts on Limes and its foreland (in today Czech republic and Slovakia), along with a description of contemporary condition of these locations. Learning outcomes
The main goal of the course is to describe the Roman Limes in the Roman province of Pannonia and the most important military objects within or outside of it. PZ
Students will get more extensive knowledge of the Roman Limes and the area outside it in Pannonia and contemporary Czech republic and Slovakia. They will also be able to interpret different opinions about various material sources from some significant Roman sites in Central Europe. PZ

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Dialog, Seminar Work

Requirements for credits - active participation in classes, presentation of an assigned topic. Exam - written book review, discussion about student's reading and one randomly chosen topic previously discussed at classes. PZ
