Course content
|
The content of lectures will be aimed at systematical explanation of terms used in diplomatics, history of this field supplemented by examples of literature and basic editions originated in our country and Europe. Some lectures will deal with matters of falsifying diplomatic material in the Middle Ages and the development of document´s critique. The aim of seminars will be the introduction into some basic characteristic types of diplomatic material. Then, a practical analysis of documents will follow (a content and formal aspects). Students will learn various approaches to editions, rules for making a regesta or making diplomatic material accessible. These rules will be demonstrated on the most known editions, especially the Czech ones. Students will practically try the work of editors as well. HF

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of lectures is to make students familiar with basic terms, methods and literature related to diplomatics, editions of diplomatic materials and history of this field in a European context and especially Czech lands. The aim of seminars is to give students information and skills necessary for knowledge of editions, especially Czech diplomatic material (formal aspects included). HF
Students will gain basic knowledge of history of diplomatics, its terms, methods and basic literature. In seminars they will learn to work with editions of diplomatic material and to prepare a regesta and complete edition of a document. HF

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
A regular preparation for classes - reading and analysing of administrative documents from the medieval period. Credit requirements: a successful passing of a credit test. HF
