Course content
Historiography of the 20th century Postmodern situation Czech historiography and postmodern thinking Basic terms of postmodern thinking Personalities: H. White, R. Barthes, P. Veyne History in the period of post-postmodernism Memory Studies

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Work with Text (with Book, Textbook)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to reflect changes, which occured in history, and in the thinking about history, after a postmodern turn. It will reflect the most important trends in historical postmodern thinking (f.i. linguistic turn) and most prominent figures connected with this turn, such as H. White, R. Barthes and P. Veyne. The course will reflect mainly the situation in France and USA, a development in the Czech lands will be also mentioned.
Participants of the course will be able to analyze most important philosophical questions which were brought about by postmodern thinking in history, they will be able to understand most important texts and will gain a capacity to reflect upon them.
Prerequisites
The knowledge of English and French is welcome, but it is not a condition.
