Learning outcomes
The course "Czechs, Germans and Austrians in Central Europe (1867-1920)" will focus on selected phenomena from the defined period, which will include chronological overlaps. The main focus will be on Czech-German relations or rather Czech(oslovak)-Austrian relations, everyday life, education, the lived culture of the monarchy, its elites and marginalised classes, and the mentality of the time.
Students will: - be able to name the most important milestones in the history of the Bohemian Czech lands and Austria - have the ability to perceive the culture, languages and mentality of a Central European - be able to analyse the causes and consequences of the break-up of states and the emergence of new states in the 20th century

general knowledge of history of 19th and 20th centuries
