Course content
|
It is a part of the bachelor state exam of Archival Science which is oral and is examined by an examining board according to valid study directives. A student draws a text written in neo-gothic italic font and another question. This other question may include an interpretation of a description of a charter or manuscript or a description of an inscription, seal or coat of arms; or possibly a transfer of 14 dates from historical sources to contemporary calendar. The aim of the course, which is a part of the bachelor state exam of Archival Science, is to check practical ability of future graduate to work with a particular historical material and to apply his/her knowledge of diplomatics, codicology, epigraphy, sphragistics, heraldry or historical chronology. Therefore there is a text written in neo-gothic italic font, which student should rewrite. Student also receives a description of a charter or manuscript, assignet by a lot, which he/she should interpret. Another possibility is that student receives an inscription, seal or coat of arms, which he/she should describe according to rules; or he/she receives 14 dates from historical sources which should be transfered into contemporary calendar. Student will pass a part of the bachelor state exam of the Archive Science. PZ

Student performance
A successfull passing of this part of the bachelor state exam of Archival Science includes student´s transliteration of a text written in a neo-gothic italic font, and a practical use of student's knowledge of diplomatics, codicology, epigraphy, sphragistics, heraldry or historical chronology. PZ
