Lectures: 1) Introduction (Vostrovská) 2) Early and Middle Neolithic - culture with Linear pottery (Vostrovská) 3) Middle Neolithic - the end of the Linear period (Vostrovská) 4) Middle and Young Neolithic - Postlinear Neolithic in Germany, Poland and the Tisza region (Vostrovská) 5) Young Neolithic - Lengyel culture (Kalábková) 6) Epilengyel and Eneolithic (Kalábková) 7) Early Eneolithic in Germany, Poland and the Tisza region (Vostrovská) 8) Old Eneolithic - Funnel beaker culture (Kalábková) 9) Middle Eneolithic - Baden culture (Vostrovská) 10) Young Eneolithic cultural complex (Vostrovská) 11) Late Eneolithic - culture with Corded pottery (Vostrovská) 12) Late Eneolithic - Bell beaker culture (Vostrovská) Seminars: 1-3) The beginning of the Neolithic in the Near East and Europe 4-12) Landscape - climate change, development of vegetation, human influence; Enclosures and fortifications - types, question of defensive function; Rondels - development of rondel architecture, types, research methods; Burials; Ornaments; Symbolism

Learning outcomes
Students are familiar with Neolithic and Eneolithic settlements in central Europe. Characteristics of individual archaeological cultures: geography, environment, chronology, settlement structure and settlement sites, burial sites, material culture, society and contacts.
Orientation in the studied issue, ability to interpret the cultural development of the Neolithic and Eneolithic in central Europe, and overview of the current literature on the given problem.
Prerequisites
Basic orientation in prehistory, theory and methodology of archaeological research.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Student performance, Seminar Work

(1) Excursion (lecture + seminar): 39 hours = 1,5 credits; (2) Study of information sources and preparation for examination: 50 hours = 2 credits; (3) Study of the literature and discussion on the topic: 13 hours = 1,5 credits.
