In this period, it is possible to notice both the absence of flatland and hilltop settlements (in proto-Únětice culture) and their existence (in Únětice and Věteřov cultures), and also the phenomenon of circular fences, newly discovered in middle Bronze Age, where they (with the exception of its initial phase) have been unknown until now. The subject explains the interaction of the three basic components and the position of locations in the field, the relations of fortified and non-fortified positions (these appear already in early phases of the Únětice culture), their size, location, characteristics, structure, functions etc. This information is based on detailed knowledge of present types of archaeological objects (types of houses, sunken objects for storage, for production and others), their interpretation and material contents, where, besides traditional materials, bronze objects can also be noticed in gradually growing number. These are found not only in settlement structures, but also apart in mass discoveries (depots). Their composition, dating and meaning is also explained. A specific trait of namely early Bronze Age are human burials in settlement properties, a common phenomenon in certain cultures on great territory that is not yet satisfactorily explicable. The well comprehended problems of Moravia are explained in broader context of Central Europe, using results of paleoenvironmental research of the period in question, including the relative and absolute dating.
