Course content
The seminar provides an overview of various methods of semiotic analysis, clarifies the substance of modern semiotic trends, introduces theoretical problems (theoretic semiotics) and uses specific examples of nonlinguistic sign systems (images, gestures) providing an insight into various fields of semiotics. The potential of applied semiotics is also discussed.

Learning outcomes

The seminars aim at expanding students' knowledge of current topics in contemporary modern semiotics. Students will become acquainted with reference literature concerning individual partial topics.
Prerequisites
The seminar is intended for all students of the Palacký University.
