Course content
The lecture will introduce students to the development of individual philosophical disciplines, provide them with an overview of the development and topics of Ancient philosophy, followed by the philosophy of German speaking countries, the basics of formal logic, epistemology, philosophy of language and ethics. Students will be introduced to the specific development of philosophy in German speaking countries. An important part of the lecture is both individual and collective work with original philosophical texts and scholarly literature.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the lecture is to introduce the students to the basic topics regarding philosophy with an emphasis placed on German speaking countries and to provide students with ability to work with original philosophical texts as well as with scholarly literature. Another aim of the course is to give students a basic overview of key philosophical topics and their historical development.
An overview of basic topics in philosophy and their context, working process in given areas and a basic overview of the history of philosophy. The ability to work with original philosophical texts, the basics of logical thinking, an overview of basic secondary literature.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student

A written test that consists of a practical and theoretical part. In the practical part, students will have to prove their ability to solve both logical problems (syllogisms, truth function) and exercises regarding argumentation theory; and to answer transdisciplinary questions about introduced topics (Plato´s Allegory of the Cave). The theoretical part will prove their knowledge regarding basic topics and history of the development of philosophy.
