The scientific core of the Department of German Studies in Olomouc constitutes the Research Centre for German Moravian Literature, which specialises in regionally oriented literary science. In the seminar, central theoretical foundations will be presented that have been developed by the members of the Research Centre. This is a method combining traditional philological procedures with models of cultural sciences and spatial theory (regional turn). The research of culture in regions is regarded as a subdomain of cultural studies. Additionally, other publications about regional research compiled by various institutions are included in the study materials for this seminar. Methodological and theoretical studies will be presented and critically assessed in the seminar. Furthermore, this method will be practically mediated and reviewed through work with texts of regional Moravian literature. Doctoral students have the possibility to apply this method or, in the best case, to advance it in their own dissertations, which predominantly deal with regional authors and phenomena. Thereby, the maximal interconnection of topical research at the department with the academic progeny is achieved.
