Course content
|
The lectures deal with the following topics: mathematic and geodetic fundamentals of cartography, reference and projection surfaces, coordinate systems, cartographic projections, content of maps, classification of maps according to content, cartographic expression methods, representation of altimetry on maps, color in the content of maps, labelling and lettering of maps, map language and symbol key, cartographic generalization, the production work on maps, mental maps, fundamentals of thematic cartography, introduction to history of world cartography, old maps of our country,. In the tutorials, individual theoretical topics are applied in specific examples of reading and construction of maps.

Learning outcomes
|
One-semestr course of the cartography deals with the questions of the general theory of the cartography (content of the maps, visualization devices, cartographical generalization...), historical cartography.
Define the basic terms, describe main approaches, recall theoretical knowledge for solution of model problems of general and thematic cartography.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge within the scope of secondary-school level of geography and mathematics.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Mark, Written exam
Active participation in tutorials, completion of assigned individual worktasks. For the examination, knowledge within the scope of lectures and literature.
