Course content
The course draws on the distribution of geographical phenomena in space, on their hierarchical nature and nomothetic character. The first part deals with the concept of region, classification of regions, their hierarchies, structural and locational potential. The second part of the course is concerned with regional taxonomy as a special case of classification method. The emphasis is put on the complex development of the spatial organisation of the Czech Republic and its regional structures, the relation between the regional divisions of the Czech territory and its administrative divisions is discussed. Methods of regional taxonomy are presented. In seminars the students apply selected regionalisation methods, partly or in their completeness.

Learning outcomes
The objective of the course is to acquaint the students with the concept of the region and with the methods of delineating and analysis of the regions.
Recall basic terms and methods of geographical regionalisation.
Prerequisites
Knowledge within the scope of compulsory subjects that precede this subject in the study plan.

Oral exam, Student performance

Requirement for successful completion of the course is: 1. on time enrolment to moodle and delivery of all required tasks in deadlines provided by the tutors. 2. correct elaboration of required tasks and/or seminar work 3. active participation in team tasks 4. passing the oral exam. All part must be fulfiled independently on each other. Undelivery of parts 1, 2 and 3 means that the credit is not granted and the oral exam cannot be enroled.
