Course content
|
Lectures are concerned with following themes: geological development and geological structure of the Czech Massif and the Carpathians; deposits and mining of mineral resources; geomorphologic development and geomorphologic division of CR; basic landform types (karst, sandstone rock towns, volcanic); basic characteristics of geomorphologic units of provinces Czech Highland, Western Carpathians, Central European lowland and Western Panonian basin; hydrologic conditions - river regimes, lakes, dams, pond areas, issue of river pollution, hydrologic extremes in CR; climatic conditions of CR and air pollution; pedogeographic and biogeographic conditions of CR; legislative limitations; categories of protected areas). Administrative and historical-geographical development of the Czech lands; public administration and its development; population and settlement structure; industry and its sectoral structure, agriculture, forestry and water management, transport, trade, services, tourism and recreation; economic integration into EU structures and the global economy; geographical regionalization - socio-economic regions.

Learning outcomes
|
Acquire basic knowledge of the physical and social and economic geographical phenomena of the Czech Republic.
Identify main geographical phenomena and spatial organization of the Czech Republic.
