Course content
The course is focused on the main methods and problem areas of projects in public administration, with an emphasis on deepening skills related to project preparation. The main emphasis is placed on the practical aspects of implementing projects funded by grants from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic, as well as European investment and structural funds, across the individual phases of the project cycle. The seminars will be conducted as practically oriented instruction aimed at developing skills in project management, including the development of relevant soft skills among students (especially teamwork skills). Students will prepare their own project application and present the project. Main topics: 1. Introduction to the course - basic terminology 2. Institutional basis of projects in education 3. Current financing of primary and secondary schools in the Czech Republic 4. Reform of school financing and basic legislative instruments 5. The project as a tool for implementing strategic management 6. Project preparation 7. Preparation of the project application - substantive part 8. Preparation of the project application - financial part 9. Project implementation 10. Project closure process Study materials are part of the electronic platform moodle.upol.cz, where the specific course has been created.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the system of financing regional education and the possibilities of obtaining projects to support increasing quality in education. The course is practically oriented toward supporting competencies in the creation and processing of project applications and develops the ability to navigate the structure of a project application, including the preparation of a project budget. Students are introduced to grant opportunities and possibilities for teachers at primary and secondary schools. The aim is to familiarize students with the project cycle and examples of good practice from implemented projects of various providers. The course fulfills the key competencies of teaching graduates: 5. Professional collaboration, 5.1. I cooperate with colleagues for the benefit of pupils and our shared professional growth.
The graduate will, upon successful completion of the course, be able to design and implement both the content-related and financial aspects of a project and prepare a standard project application in connection with identifying the relevant problem area, apply appropriate tools for preparing both substantive and budgetary parts, and identify potential risks for the applicant. After completing the lecture and seminar of the course Projects and Project Preparation for Teachers, the student: - creates their own project for the development and innovation of education (linked to the Competency Framework: 1.1.1., 1.1.6., and 1.1.7.) - is able to transform content didactically while effectively creating learning opportunities, appropriately using subject-didactic concepts, and working with the learning environment for pupils, including digital environments (linked to the Competency Framework: 1.2.2., 1.2.10.) - acquires the competencies to cooperate with colleagues and school management in order to create optimal conditions for learning (linked to the Competency Framework: 3.3.6)

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Seminar Work

Regular attendance at seminars, presentation of a seminar paper in the form of a self-created project, oral colloquium.
