Course content
In theoretical part of course following issues are solved: GIS development, basic components of GIS, hardware demands and possibilities of use of modern technologies, software solutions and GIS software producers, data and data models in geoinformatics, digital data sources in the CR, technology and use of GPS. Practical part is aimed at work in computer room and is concerned with: data sources for regional research in the CR and abroad, map servers, freeware GIS software and its application in thematic map creation, GPS mapping.

Learning outcomes
Course is oriented as basic course to acquaint student with GIS and geoinformatics.
Recall basic terms and concepts used in geoinformatics and GIS.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge in the field of information technology at the high school level. Ability to work independently on the computer.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Student performance, Seminar Work

Students will solve practical and written part of colloquium as a test of their knowledge.
