Course objectives: Introducing students into main problems of metaphysics with special emphasis on theological application. The concept of metaphysics; Aristotle's metaphysics as the science concerning being; types of beings and existence: reality, possibility, beings of reason; categories; particular and universal, the problem of universals: Plato's metaphysics, various interpratation of Aristotle's doctrine on universals; Aristotle's metaphysics as the science of the First cause: God and metaphysics; Aristotle's metaphysics as the science concerning first principles; self-evident principles: the principle of non-contradiction, Leibniz law, the principle of sufficient reason, the principle of causation. Competences acquired: The students gain understanding of the fundamental concepts, theses and problems of the discipline in view of the application in theology. Requirements on student: Exam testing understanding of the key concepts, theses and arguments in the field.
